Bienvenue

Bonjour! This year, we are very excited to welcome Alban Xavier to our Languages Domain as a French Language Assistant. Alban will work with French students in all year levels to develop their oral skills but in particular, he will regularly engage our senior students in conversation practice. We also look forward to the cultural knowledege and experiences that he will share with staff and students alike. Welcome to our school, Alban! Bienvenue à Nossal High School.

Hey, my name is Alban. I am a French Assistant at Nossal High School. I come from Evry, a city near Paris. I applied as a French teaching assistant when I was in university, last year where I finished my Master’s degree in languages. I like reading, wandering around and I like good movies.

During my studies, I have been learning English and German. Actually, I took German as a first language when I was in high school and English was my second language. My mother speaks English at home, so I guess it might help a lot! I have been a teaching assistant in a primary school in France for one year and I did some animation jobs with children over two years, so in fact, I have always been working with kids. This new experience is a bit thrilling as it’s my first experience abroad. As a conclusion, I am looking forward in working with the students of Nossal, because they are really nice !

Lycée Félix le Dantec

Thank you to all those who responded to our requests to host students from Lycée Félix le Dantec, a secondary school in Lannion, Brittany, in the north of France.

As our planning enters its final phase, excitement is growing among the host students and their families and in fact by the time our next newsletter is published, our guests will be staying in our school community.  The French delegation will comprise 20 students and two staff and they will touch down in Melbourne at  6:30am on Friday 22 February before arriving at Nossal at approximately 2:45pm.

During their time with us, they will attend some classes with their hosts, as well as some special classes just for them to experience life in an Australian school; visit the city, Healesville Sanctuary, Cranbourne Gardens as well as ride Puffing Billy during a family day at Emerald Lake.

This is the first time Nossal has hosted a group from this school, and I know from experience, that our students (and their families) will thoroughly enjoy the time they share with their international guests.  Additionally, our students will also extend and develop their French language skills as a result of their involvement.  It is planned that a return journey of Nossal students to Lannion will take place in the future.

Thank you to the students and families who have supported this initiative and I look forward to sharing it with you.
