As mentioned on Liam’s Facebook he is looking for as many people joining him on this walk as possible - mates, family, strangers, everyone. With our Year 11 MindMatters Student Teams on Preliminary exams and Year 12s preparing for their HSC, it was pleasing again to see St Pius X College well represented at The Running for Rowie, St Thomas’ Willoughby based community event on Sunday. Our Year 10 MindMatters Team supervised by Ms Allington and Mr Russo, and including Matt Garrett, Tom Zwart, Jack Moran, Chris Jenner, Amechi Okwechime, Cooper Alan and Jamie Miller, were supported by Year 9 Student Empowerment Team aspirants Miguel Alvarez, Tom Wong and Jimmy Bleasdale in running the BBQ for this Community Event to remember Andrew Rowe and support a charity which raises funds in support of managing Childhood Grief.
Following Mr Russo’s inspirational talk to Year 9 last week we now invite applicants to join a Year 9 MindMatters Student Empowerment Team to take up the mantle of advocating well being. See James Spencer, Nick Papastamatis or Jack Moran to register your interest. We also need some Year 9 – 12 students to begin as Peer Mentors to Year 5 – 7 students and help out with the MindMatters Programs in a range of ways. Again register your interest through the Year 10 MindMatters Team or to Mr Russo, Mr Brannan, Ms Kugananthan, Ms Foord, Ms Allington, Mr Lynch, Mr McBrearty or Mr Ten Seldam.

This program started in 2016 and has to-date seen over 50 families. Overall feedback received has been extremely positive.
