Embracing the differences

....that make us unique

Hi! I’m Natasha Cheak, the 2018 female school Vice Captain. I transitioned from Bonnyrigg Heights Primary School to Cecil Hills High  School in 2013 and I was overjoyed - albeit a little nervous - to finally attend  high school. It was quickly made obvious that my sisters' stories of Cecil Hills High School, painting it as the best school in the area, weren’t an exaggeration especially in regards to the inclusive culture of the school with countless events organised by the staff and student body contribute to. Personally, these events such as athletics carnivals, swimming carnivals and the end of year Cecil Showcase remain the highlight of my high school experiences particularly because of the aura of positivity it induces into the school community which encourages students to participate. I am passionate about being forthright in voicing your opinion, making people laugh and encouraging others to be a little kinder to one another - all of which I hope to instill in the Year 7 newcomers.

Born to fit in?  You were born to stand out ! Hi, my name is Phanouk Sophea Nop, I am the Vice Captain of 2018

I wasn’t born in Australia… I’m an International student from Cambodia. I arrived here about two and a half years ago. Going into a new school in a new country, with no absolute idea what to expect, can be a scary experience and having English is my second language - it wasn't easy. Yet with the help of the wonderful staff at Cecil Hills High School, I found the transition to be more pleasing than I thought.  Being a part of the Student Representative Council is an experience that has changed my life. Being a leader is not about being controlling, it is about listening and putting others before you and making sure that very one is happy.  Lastly, if a boy from Cambodia can come to a new country and become a school Vice Captain. YOU CAN DO IT.
