There’s been a change in me

A kind of moving on

2018-2020 School Plan Update

I am proud to present our 2018-2020 School Plan.  You can download a copy of our plan from our school website or by clicking on this link.

In terms of my introductory quote, this three year plan takes the best aspects of the previous 2015-2017 plan and sets a clear vision to take our school to the next level in 2018-2020.  We are ‘moving on’ on our previous plan but will of course keep the fantastic aspects of our school that staff, students and parents ‘depend upon’.  In our new plan, we will focus on the development of:

1. respectful, responsible and successful learners

2. flexible, future-focused and innovative teaching practices

3. leaders as community change agents

I will provide regular updates on our plan and I encourage very parent to read about our vision for Cecil Hills High School.

Executive Conference

A few weeks ago, the school executive and faculty head teachers shared models of best practice in their approach to teaching the HSC.  This was an extremely useful session and will help ensure students are getting the most out of their education.  Our teachers work together and across faculties to lift students to their potential.

Congratulations

I am very pleased to announce that Ms Felicity Wicks has been promoted to Head Teacher - English at our school in a permanent capacity.

Ms Wicks has worked at Cecil Hills High School since 2002 and in that time she has held a number of important roles.  She has been a year adviser and relieving executive teacher and coordinated several programs including SRC and e-learning.  More recently, she has worked as Acting Head Teacher - English in the school's largest faculty.  I'm looking forward to Ms Wicks being a permanent member of our executive team.

Staff Farewells

Congratulations to Ms Fleur Farah who has been promoted to Head Teacher – HSIE at Mount Annan High School.  Ms Farah has had an immeasurable impact on Cecil Hills High School since she commenced in 2009.  As an expert

teacher of the HSC in Geography and Business Studies, she has helped our students achieve beyond their potential.  As Year 12 Adviser, she has worked very closely with Mr Paul Hickey to guide, mentor and support our current HSC students and I know she will be visiting regularly to check on their progress.  More recently, Ms Farah has expertly relieved as Head Teacher – Administration and provided whole school leadership to support our casual teachers and daily organisation.  When I told Year 12 that Ms Farah would be leaving us at the end of Term 1, there was almost instantaneous tears across the grade which demonstrates the positive and strong impact she has had on the lives of this group of students in particular.  I know that Ms Farah will be a fantastic head teacher in her new role and we wish her all the best for this next chapter in her career.

P&C Meetings

Our next P&C meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, 7 May 2018.  There will be a repeat session at 9:30am on Thursday, 10 May 2018.

I look forward to continuing to work with the staff, students and parents of Cecil Hills High School, the best school in NSW.

Mark Sutton, Principal
