Flag raising ceremony at the police station

Last Wednesday, the Moyhu Primary School where involved in the Aboriginal Flag raising ceremony at the Moyhu Police Station. The children took part in the ceremony by raising both the Aboriginal Flag and the Australian Flag, presenting gifts and playing music. Both flags are flying at the front of the police station. The Moyhu Primary School and the Moyhu Pre School both designed art work to represent the occasion, that was presented to  our local police officer, to hang in the foyer of the station. Here Matt is holding up the artwork our Moyhu students designed.

Life Ed Van

Last Thursday all the children visited the Life Ed Van to learn about health related issues, My body Matters for the F- 3 and Relate, Respect, Connect  for the 4-6 children. This is a great opportunity for our children to experience learning in a different setting with interactive stimulus to provide them with more knowledge and understanding about themselves and the world they live in.

Report Writing Day - New Date - Monday 9th December

The new date for the Report Writing Day is Monday 9th December. Staff will be writing reports on this day. This will be a pupil free day, no students at school on this day.

Garden Project

The garden project has really hit full swing at the moment, the vegetable garden was planted out with the summer crop of vegetables. Last week the children constructed their own take home insect motel and built a much larger school ‘Bee motel ‘ for all the  pollinating insects around the school yard. Learning all about the different pollinating insects and doing an audit around the school, counting all the different varieties of pollinators currently in the schoolyard, was very informative for all of us.

The students also made beeswax wraps with Crystal on Friday. These can be used instead of using glad wrap which will then reduce the use of plastic which is better for our environment. The instructions of how to care for the wraps were sent home with your child on Friday.

Swimming

The next 2 sessions of swimming at the YMCA Wangaratta are this week on the 26th and 29th of November. Please remember to check that your child has their bathers, towel and goggles packed for tomorrow and Friday this week. Can you please ensure that your child is wearing their bathers under their uniform in the morning to save on time before their lesson. Thank you.

Transition Days

Our transition days for our new Foundations students have been lots of fun. The students have been exposed to reading, writing, Italian, our Earn and Learn market day and Art.

Please don't forget that Tuesday 10th December is the Statewide transition day. This is for the whole day. All students will move up into their 2020 class for this day.
