Koorie Champions’ News

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land, the Wathaurong people and acknowledge and pay our respects to elders past and present and emerging.

Recently in our Koorie Champions and Friends Club we have looked at Dreamtime Stories and Legends and the importance of passing on stories from one generation to the next. We watched a short film about The Rainbow Serpent and made our own Gooriallas. (Rainbow Serpents)

There are a number of significant days coming up including:

4th August: National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

9th August: International Day of the World’s Indigenous People

1st September: Indigenous Literacy Day

Have you seen our new Acknowledgement of Country as you enter our school office? It looks just fabulous!

Mrs Ruddick and all garden classes have been involved in building a Bush Tucker area in our garden. It is a work in progress but here is what it looks like so far. I will keep you posted with more pictures as it develops. We are all very excited about learning about bush tucker and using our own tucker in kitchen classes.

Thanks Mrs Ruddick!
