Big Day Out

Please enjoy some reflections from the children on their Big Day Out.

The bus ride felt like an eternity! I sat next to Giselle while we both also talked to Xander. Everyone was laughing and it was really loud, we all grew tired and a bit restless after 30 minutes of driving. But finally, we arrived! There were a lot of people running around. We stopped at a table to put all our stuff down. We all quickly put on sunscreen and then ran to the waterpark. We went to the lazy river and it was a struggle to get into the floaty. Giselle fell a bunch of times! Ruby, Jenny, Giselle and I tried to stay together but we kept on falling off the floaties, and boy was the water cold! Ruby, Jenny and I went to the Aqua Race. Giselle and Eleanor sat this one out. We were really cold and a bit nervous. Jenny was first and raced down the slide on the foam board. Ruby and I were next and we laid down on the foam boards. We pushed off and the bumps launched us into the air. I was so scared when we lifted off. Water was splashing in my face, but the ride was over in an instant! Giselle, Jenny, Ruby and I went on the Tsunami. The line was really long and we were WAY too scared to go on the Tornado so we went on the Tsunami. (we underestimated how scary the Tsunami was going to be!) After waiting for what felt like forever, we jumped into the big floaty that held four people. We were pushed down and I started to scream! Like, a horror movie scream. We pushed into a huge vertical drop and then we were being splashed by water and being dropped again and again. When the ride finished we started laughing and quickly ran back to where our bags were set. We all ran into the long line with our money in our hands, starving and cold. I got a chicken nugget meal with a Sprite, it was really good. We then got into our clothes and went on the Wave Swinger. I felt a bit sick at first because I had just eaten chips but that feeling was washed away by pure excitement! We swung around and around, it was super fun! We then went to the candy shop. I picked out a bunch of items but could only get three because I ran out of money… We all gathered our lollies and bags and hopped onto the bus. I sat next to Eleanor. I was asleep for most of the ride, but when we arrived at school I was ready to go home. Overall, I had a great day! - Minky
Big day out was a blast! Except for the bus ride…… the bus ride was so boring. It was a two hour drive! But the adventure park was so much fun!!
My group went to the Tornado, Tsunami, and a really fun spinning swing thingy Mabob! My group also went on some other waterslides and we also went on an aeroplane ride and we went up and down and chased each other!! We got lots of food!! And we even went to Candy Land!!! The members in my group were Emily, Tilly, Hasan, James, and of course me!! Lucy! As I said at the start BIG DAY OUT WAS A BLAST!!!! I loved it and found it very enjoyable!!! - Lucy
It was the morning of the big day out and I felt drowsy because I couldn’t sleep. I just wished that the day could happen sooner because we were going to Adventure Park!
I arrived at school at 8:13am ready for a day of excitement. I had been placed in an awesome group with none other than Mr. Cirillo as our group leader! This was shaping up to be a great day. We hopped onto the bus at 8:30am and prepared for a two hour bus ride. People were beginning to question if the bus ride was a good trade off but I persisted in telling them that it was worth it.
We arrived bursting with energy and excitement. We were told that it was recess but we were having none of that! My group managed to convince Mr. Cirillo and we were golden, so many rides to choose from. The first ride we went on was called “Wild West Canyon”. There was a two person raft that you could go down, my raft partner was Tyler. Tyler kept questioning whether or not the water was warm but I told him it was warm but it was freezing. The ride gets a 7/10 from me, fun but a little too tame for my liking.
The next few rides were: Aqua race, Playground, Paddling and Lazy River, all of them were really fun. The paddling one was a ride that involved hopping on a boat and paddling, we mainly used it as a medium to ram into each other. The Playground was what you would expect, it was just wet. The Aqua race was very fast but very scary because the edge wasn’t that high. Lazy River was one of my favourites, the boys and I kept doing silly things, so it was fun.
After a frenzy of rides we went for lunch, luckily for us though, we brought money! Even better though the girls were already in the line so we discreetly joined in with them, I’m pretty sure the entire line hated us. I ordered 2 hotdogs and chips. After lunch we had an hour to goof around so after we got lollies we went to the TORNADO, except almost my entire group chickened out, but Henry and Aiden stepped in to join me. The Tornado was very fun, there was this (almost) vertical drop which scared me and it was that experience that made me do it again! That time with Tyler as well.
Sadly our day had come to an end. It was fun but so was the bus ride, we were all laughing hysterically on the way home which made it go by faster. We arrived back at 4:17pm and we all waved each other goodbye, until the next day. - Xander
