Message from the Principal

The last couple of weeks have been filled with wonderful celebrations which is a fitting end to what has been a challenging year for all.

Our students in SLC, have missed out on so much over the last couple of years, in particular their camp to Canberra. In order to make up for this loss, the school hosted a fun evening for them and their families including a rock climbing wall, an inflatable obstacle course, bungy trampolines, a jumping castle and a food truck. Thank you to Talia for organising such an amazing event.

Over the course of this year, 22 of our students across all year levels have participated in singing lessons with our singing teacher Rebecca Bode. Recently these students put on a wonderful performance for their families. It was a great opportunity for them to show their talents. I was particularly impressed by their level of confidence. Thank you to Bec for providing such an amazing opportunity.

Our new Prep students for 2022 attended their last Transition morning. They seem very settled and ready to begin their journey with us. At the beginning of their session they were introduced to their Year 5/6 Buddy who will support them during their time at St Bridget's. The Buddy Program is an important part of our Social Emotional Learning.

During our last three whole school Assemblies, members of our Skipping Club have performed, demonstrating their skipping skills and coordination. Thank you to Ms Durrant who has worked closely with the students to teach and help improve their skipping skills.

As Term 4 was coming to a close, we celebrated our Year 6 students graduating from Primary School. We feel we have prepared them well for the next chapter of their lives and we wish them all the very best for their future endeavours. Their celebrations included a Graduation Mass, a Music Production and a Graduation Breakfast. Thank you to the staff and parents for organising these events ensuring each one was a roaring success.

As part of our Graduation Mass, one of our Year 6 students is presented with our Citizenship Award.

A definition of a ‘Good Citizen’ is:

  • Someone who respects others and their property
  • They are helpful and considerate, willing to put others first
  • They listen to the views of others and think about what they have to say
  • They help people who are not in a position to help themselves
  • They respect the environment and do not damage it in any way
  • They work hard
  • They are well mannered and pleasant
  • They are always willing to learn

This year the Citizenship Award was presented to Emily.

Also each year, Josh Frydenberg, our local member of parliament runs a drawing competition, with the winners featured on his Christmas card. This year drawings from two of our students came runners up and will appear of Josh's Christmas card. Congratulations to Emily and Eleanor from SLC.

Finally, our school finished the year with a end of year picnic. It was great to come together as a community and farewell what has been a very challenging year for all. Many of our new families joining us next year were present and I hope they felt welcome.

On behalf of my staff and I, we wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all next year when Term 1 begins on Monday 31st January.

Kind regards

Mrs Robyn Thomson

Principal
