From the Principal's Desk

Supervision in the morning at school

Supervision at school commences from 8.30am. Students should not be arriving to school prior to 8.30am. There has been an increasing number of students arriving at school before  8.30am in the morning.

We have put extraordinary organisational structures in place to minimise the potential spread of COVID-19 at our school, using the Department of Education cohort model. The model ensures that children are not mixing broadly with the school population. When students arrive before 8.30am, they are mixing with students who are not in their cohort, putting them at increased risk. As school supervision begins from 8.30am, the school is able to accommodate the cohort model from this time.

We have YMCA before and after school care onsite, who can provide supervision for students until 8.30am every morning. The YMCA has spots available in the morning to families who require care, so that the number of students arriving before 8.30am should be minimal.

Year 6 Farewell

Thank you for your patience as we work with Campbelltown Catholic Club about the organisation for the Year 6 Farewell. The wording and timing of the Public Health Order (PHO) has had the department working closely with NSW Health about Year 6 farewells. On the evening of 16 November, there was clarity provided to schools and clubs, so we can go ahead with the organisation.

The expectations from the department, the club and the PHO require at least one fully vaccinated adult, from the household, to accompany the child onsite and sign them in using the QR code system through Service NSW. This adult then, must remain onsite for the duration of the function. The child will then be returned to the adult, who will sign them out when they leave. More information will be provided to families about this soon. It will be the adult’s responsibility to ensure that they can demonstrate their vaccination status when dropping their child off.

This is a very confusing time for everyone. If you need some clarification about this, please contact the school or your child’s teacher.

End of year events

We will have Presentation Assemblies to celebrate student efforts with learning. Parents and carers are only able to attend if they are completing a specific role, e.g. presenting an award. To accommodate, we will stream the presentation assemblies online, so you can watch at home. We will also record the assemblies, for viewing at a later time.  Further details will be communicated to families in the coming weeks.

Stages will have some small events planned for PBL. You will receive information about these. Due to restrictions though, these will be a bit different to previous years.

Birthdays and sharing food

I request, that for the remainder of the year, that cakes and treats for birthdays to share with classmates stay at home. With current restriction levels and continued community transmission, this is a pre-emptive action that will minimise potential spread.
