From the Executive Principal's Desk

Dear Parents/Guardians

The last time I contributed to the newsletter I shared some thoughts about change. I mentioned that change in life happens. How do we approach change? Do we approach change with fear and apprehension, or do we embrace change and become excited about the wonderful new possibilities ahead that change may bring? There are some significant changes happening with the leadership of Heatherton Christian College in 2022.

David Holloway, our Head of Primary, has just been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Lighthouse Christian College beginning in 2022. David has been a wonderful Head of Primary for the past 6 years and we will greatly miss him at HCC. David combined the Head of Primary role with overseeing our teaching and learning program at HCC from Prep-Year 10 and has fulfilled this role with great diligence.

I would also like to announce that Pam Sanderson will be leaving HCC at the end of the year. Pam is a fantastic teacher, and we will greatly miss her at HCC. Pam’s contribution to HCC over the past 10 years has been immense. Pam will be moving on to Avila College in 2022.

Jacky Gupta, our faithful and long-serving Head of Middle School, will be moving to Hillcrest Christian College in 2022. Jacky has also made an enormous contribution to HCC over the past 15 years. Jacky is fondly known as ‘Mama G’ to the Year 7 students as a testament to the great care and compassion she displays to the students.

Jeremy Richards and Julianne Sim will also be moving on to new schools in 2022. We are in the process of advertising for a new Head of Music and English teacher at the moment. Jeremy and Juli have also both been wonderful contributors to HCC.

Along with our new Executive Principal, Damian Higgins, and our new Head of Campus at HCC, Jason Burgess we have been blessed to have found two excellent replacements for David and Pam. Angela Eynaud will be joining us in 2022 as our new Head of Teaching and Learning and VCE English and History teacher. Angela is highly experienced and for the past twenty years has been the VCE Coordinator and most recently Director of Teaching and Learning at Northside Christian College. Angela is also a highly experienced VCE English and History teacher.

I am also pleased to let you know that our own Pete Bunyon has been promoted internally to the position of Head of Primary in 2022. Pete is well known in our HCC community and also brings a wealth of experience to this important role.

Christy Marshall has been promoted internally to the role of Head of Middle school for 2022. Christy has been doing a fantastic job as our Year 9 coordinator over the past few years, so the Head of Middle School role is a natural fit for her.

Quote of the week………..

One reason people resist change is because they focus on what they have to give up, instead of what they have to gain
