Grade Prep News 

What an amazing time we have been having in Prep Land. We have been so grateful to be back in the classroom this term and are enjoying every second we have together making memories before we shortly head off to Year One!

In literacy this term, the students have been learning about recount writing and how to structure a recount using the 5 w’s: who, what, when, where, why. This has been really exciting now that we are able to go out and enjoy our weekends, as now we have really fun recounts to write and share with our classmates. A big focus has been on our sounding out of words when we are writing and WOW have we got better and better at this each day. Not only that, we have been practising really hard to say our sentence out loud first and then write it down. This helps us make sure our sentences make sense! Check out some of our writing samples!

In Maths last week we had such a fun time learning about position and movement. Last time we had to do this through Seesaw, so you can bet we had SO much more fun being able to complete obstacle courses, and solve problems together. Our challenge was to use correct position and movement words to lead our partner through the course, AND if that was too easy we even tried this with our eyes closed! Not only was this a maths lesson, we were also able to practise showing our school values of Resilience and Safety to make sure we were all having lots of fun. If you stood outside of the gym you could definitely hear how much fun we had!!

Now we look ahead to our last three weeks of Prep together. This will be full of learning and laughter as we cherish this time together. We are so excited for the Junior School incursion, and you can bet that we will practise our Christmas concert song at every single chance we get….. sorry mum and dad!
