Leadership Team

The end of the year is rapidly approaching and the move to the new site on Hawdon Street has already begun. Many of the larger items required, but not in use at this time of the year and able to be transported, have already been moved and commissioned.

Items surplus to requirements are currently being auctioned on-line by Kevin Hicks Real Estate.

The majority of the internal works are complete with GSSC technical staff already working hard to ensure that our computer network will be operational on day one 2022.

External works and landscaping are also rapidly being completed. The photographs below show some of the team busy with tree planting. Connect GV, which operates Billabong Nursery as a retail and social enterprise, was on hand at the new GSSC site this week to supervise the planting of eleven substantial trees in the new school's main courtyard. The Australian native Water Gums will grow up to 10 to 15m and are destined to provide shade and beauty for generations of students. GSSC has close connections with Connect GV and Verney Rd School, providing employment and learning opportunities for young people with disabilities.

Examinations for 2021 Year 12 students are now behind them and the next chapter of their lives begins. Whether it be University studies, TAFE, Traineeships, or into the work force we wish them all the very best for their future.

They were presented with Certificates of Completion on Friday 19th November and celebrated at Eastbank later in the evening.

The class of 2022 has already started their studies in the early commencement program and have work to do prior to the start of next year. Their last day for 2021 was today, Friday 26th November.

The remaining Year levels will continue into December. Finishing dates are documented elsewhere in the Newsletter.

Since the COVID-19 restrictions have finally eased we have been able to hold a number of events, including a Year 10 & 11 Formal, which was held on Thursday evening and was a huge success - see next issue for  a full report and all the pics!

For those Year 11 students who have recently left for work, TAFE or traineeships, we wish you a very happy holiday period and wish you all the best for your future as well.
