With Wednesday 17 December being the last day of the term for our students, this is the final newsletter I write at Galilee.
I leave Galilee with a wealth of knowledge and memories I will always treasure. I have been blessed, working alongside some of the finest teachers, most beautiful students and supportive parents in my career.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the whole community for their support for the school in this challenging year. Despite all the restrictions that COVID imposed on the school throughout the year, this has once again been a very successful year for the children and community of Galilee.
I would like to thank the school’s Leadership Team, Ms Joanna Mutwicka and Ms Siobhan Carey for their outstanding leadership, dedication and support of the school community. They have worked tirelessly to support all facets of the school community throughout 2021.
To all those families leaving Galilee may you be safe and know that the community will miss you. We wish these families God’s blessings and continued happiness in their future and we hope they remain connected to our school. We give thanks for our many blessings, the opportunity to work, teach, learn and share our successes with others.
Our children always 'rise to the challenge' and make us very proud. Congratulations to our Year 6 students who celebrated their graduation on Monday. My best wishes to all of you as you move onto high school and continue your journey in faith and learning.
We farewelled: Henry Bergman, Jamie Cavia Dena, Camilla De Cian, Chloe Di Lorenzo, Sienna Girardi, Madison Guerero, Lola Kearney, Lolita Lambropoulos, Luke Logan, Kayla Martin, Phoenix Matouk, Anneleise Murphy, Macey Muscroft, Sienna Portada and Leon Shaloub. We wish them continued success in their studies and ask God to bless them on their journey through life.
Thank you to our school leaders for their enthusiasm, the mature manner in which they encouraged the younger students throughout this year, and the excellent way they have each carried out their particular role. It has been a pleasure to have their support and I wish them every success in the future.
Thank you to the staff who have worked hard to adapt and adjust to ever changing circumstances throughout the year. They are all absolute champions.
I also wish to thank all the parents who have worked in partnership with the school to improve the learning outcomes for our students. I make special mention of the P&F Executive who share, not only their time, but their many talents. They give up their own time to collectively make Galilee a better place. I also acknowledge all the other parents who have worked throughout the school and helped in numerous ways.
Thank you to Father Robbie who has nurtured our faith development throughout the year and been a constant source of support and encouragement to the staff and students.
Warm wishes to all the Galilee families for a joy filled Christmas.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You and God bless you all.
Staffing News
The end of a school year often brings changes for staff.
Ms Gonzalez has announced that after 4 years of teaching at Galilee she will be taking up a position at Claremont College. Lina has made a significant contribution to Galilee during her time on staff and will be greatly missed by staff, students and families. She will be remembered for her outstanding teaching and dedication to all the students that she has taught, her gentle way with the students and her warm smile. We thank her for the cultural capital she has brought to Galilee, from the Colombian dancing to the Spanish lessons at recess and lunch.
We also farewell our office Senior School Support Officer Elyse Sutevski who has worked tirelessly in the Galilee office. She has focused on the school budget and finances, been helpful, accessible and adaptable with parents, students and staff. Elyse has taken on a senior role at St Agnes Catholic Primary School Matraville.
We wish both Ms Gonzalez and Miss Elyse all the best in their future endeavours.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
