Year 8

Bentleigh East Campus

It was really great to welcome the Year 8 students back to full on-site learning this week!

What a challenging year it has been. I would like to commend the students for the manner in which they persevered with the many difficulties surrounding remote learning and for the positive return to school.

It was great to see all the happy faces and hear once again the enthusiastic shouts during the intense Down Ball Games.

As we move into the final weeks of Term 4 there are some important things to consider. The weather is very changeable so it is a good idea to make sure that you are prepared by being sun smart, hats, water bottles and sun screen. Remember to follow Covid Safety protocols both indoors and out and remember your mask. It is important to stay home if you are feeling unwell and stay alert for severe weather asthma warnings. Make sure your Asthma Management Plan is up to date and you carry the required medication or puffer.

There will be a number of activities and events as the year draws to a close. Flying Start began on 23 November. Students will move to their new classrooms with their new teachers and commence work for Year 9 2022. We have also launched our annual Christmas Appeal and I am sure the Year 8 students will get behind this worthy cause and generously contribute to those less fortunate.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the Homeroom Teachers and Year 8 Staff and Team for their work during remote learning and for the extra efforts preparing for the return to on-site learning. The support and care for the students is impressive and we are all mindful of well-being and mental health issues facing many at this time. Please reach out if we can assist in any way. We are looking forward to a smooth and exciting transition, although we are conscious that some may be feeling a little anxious. A good way to prepare is to spend some time with your son, maybe organising and purchasing new work books and equipment and discuss the many exciting opportunities that are exclusive to Year 9.

Please feel free to contact me at the college should you have any questions or concerns.
