Sport and PE Report

Welcome Back

I would like to say a massive welcome back to all students and families! I feel like it was Term 1 just yesterday! Now we are already in Term 4. How the year has flown by!

I am looking forward to a wonderful term of PE and Sport, and I am also very excited to get back to school.

BPPS Fitness Challenge

A huge thank-you to all of the students and families who participated in the BPPS Fitness Challenge during Term 3 remote learning. I really hope you enjoyed the opportunity to earn some house points whilst getting active.

The overall house points are:

Congratulations to Cooma!! You are our winners for the BBPS Fitness Challenge in Term 3!!

I would also like to congratulate all houses on their efforts to earn points. Each house raised a phenomenal amount of points, with the total adding up to 61,188 points! That is an amazing amount of physical activity, the fact that we earnt that many points in just 2 weeks is an outstanding accomplishment. I am very proud of all students!

Great work to everyone for their amazing participation in this challenge!

Inside the PE classroom this week

Students will be focusing on the following topics over the next few weeks:

  • Foundation - Ball Handling Skills (Such as Bouncing, Throwing and Catching)
  • Year 1/2 - Striking Skills
  • Year 3/4 - Striking and Fielding Games
  • Year 5/6 - Ball Handling Skills (Focus on Basketball)

Don't forget that children aged between 5 and 12 years of age should be aiming for at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day.

The Transition Back to Onsite Learning

As you are already aware, the transition back to onsite learning will take place from Monday 18 October (Week 3) to Thursday 4 November (Week 5).  In order to make this transition period as smooth as possible it has been decided that all specialist programs will continue to take place remotely.

I will continue to provide Physical Education ‘Home Learning’ activities for your child on one remote learning day each week throughout this period. All Physical Education tasks will continue to be uploaded on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m ready for completion during the week.  We encourage your child to complete these tasks each week.

Important Changes to the Specialist days and sessions each week from this week onwards

To reflect onsite attendance for each cohort during this transition period, we have altered the timetable for Specialist Days and Specialist Webex sessions.  Parents will be sent an email outlining these days, webex sessions and login details.

If you have any questions about the Physical Education home learning activities please don’t hesitate to contact me via email.
