From the Foundation Classrooms

Term 4 - Topsy Turvy Tales!

In Term 4, Foundation students will be working on developing their creative and imaginative minds by looking closely at traditional tales.

In Week One students were introduced to the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs. After reading this story they began to look carefully at the characters within this tale.  They worked on a note-taking activity called Inside - Outside. Students thought about the character of The Big Bad Wolf. They made a list of words to describe the physical attributes of this character and wrote these adjectives on the outside of the wolf outline. On the inside of the wolf outline they wrote words describing the personal characteristics of this character.

This large list of descriptive, Inside - Outside words were collated and written onto a large list. Later on in the week the Foundation students used this word list to support them to write a descriptive story about the character of the Big Bad Wolf.

Foundation teachers were so impressed with the amazing stories that were written. Students were able to use this list of Inside - Outside words to describe the character of the Big Bad Wolf in their stories.
