Leadership Report
We are at the half way point of Term 4
It is a huge term as we finalise one school year while planning for the next one.
There is still a significant part of the curriculum that teachers are required to teach so it is important that routines remain as consistent as possible to enable students to learn.
Some of the events that will be happening in addition to regular classroom programs are:
- Transitions programs for Receptions coming in and Year 6 and 7’s leaving for Secondary schools
- The writing and distribution of Student Final Year Reports
- Swimming lessons
- Camps
- Incursions and excursions
- R-7 concert – in a modified form
- Year 6 and 7 Graduation ceremony
- Restructuring to form 2022 classes
There is a building of excitement for some for all of the activities happening but in many, some anxiety about the impending changes and the disruption to routines. This can present in unsettled and uncharacteristic behaviour.
As their adults we need to support our children to manage all that is going on and help them feel safe in the knowledge that they will be okay.
As parents it will help if you:
- Keep a close eye on school communications so your children are organised
- Retain home routines and expectations around homework, daily reading etc
- Provide them with healthy food choices and sleep routines so that they are at their best to manage the emotional and physical load
- Talk to them about how they are feeling and allay any fears
- Protect them from any anxiety you feel – children mirror you and very easily pick up on how you are feeling
We will be working with you to provide an end of year which is happy, safe and memorable for all Magill students.
