WINNER- CAM MACPHIE

The Winner of the 2021 Bruce Prossor Perpetual Trophy - Services to Men's Hockey Awarded goes to Cameron MacPhie.

Cam is a worthy winner of this Award, not just for the work that he has done for the TEM Hockey Club this year, but for the work over many years.

He has been a pillar of the TEM Hockey Club, not just the Men’s section, for longer than a lot that played around him have been alive. He has been involved in almost everything at the club over the years.

Playing over 600 Senior games and over 750 in total for the club, not including Juniors. He is the Men’s (Seniors and Master combined) games record holder and I’m sure there are many more to come.

He’s been an integral leader of the Men’s early Pennant teams for many years now through the good times, the hard times and everything in between, while always making it a friendly, enjoyable, and inviting environment for all that pass through. Many of the current Premier League Squad have spent time under his guidance and it can be said that they are better for it. He always makes it a family affair with the management duties being undertaken by his better half or one of his offspring.

In 2021, he guided the Men’s PC team, which had only just avoided relegation a few years back, to a promotion to PB, making TEM Hockey Club one of only a handful of clubs that possess four teams in the top 4 Men’s competitions in Hockey Victoria’s Metro Competitions, which is a testament to his lead by example leadership style.

Cam has been a weekly figure around the club with appearances assisting Josh Pollard and Cam Belza with the Premier League Squad on a Tuesday night, running training for the Pennant B/C squad on a Wednesday night, including the after-training BBQs and social hours which has been an integral part of the TEM Men’s section having all 4 Pennant grades promoted this season. Cam also lent his time and featured on a Tuesday or Thursday night and weekends after a session catering for the boys.

In addition to the Men’s section, Cam has also been heavily involved with the Master Sections from the introduction of +35s around 10 years ago, by organising teams, which is a week-by-week challenge, supplying managers and umpires, so everything can run smoothly.

We all know that Cam doesn’t like to play favourites, so he also shared his time across both the Juniors and Women’s section of the Club over the years adding value to everything that he’s involved in.

To do what Cam has done in 2021 and over the years required great communication skills, which is made even more impressive as Cam MacPhie does not have a social media presence, which is pretty much how everyone communicates these days.

Congratulations Cam on this award, we really appreciate all that you have done for the TEM Hockey Club.
