BRUCE HULSTON TROPHY

Best Clubperson 

The Club's highest honour is awarded to a person that has made a significant contribution across all sections of the club. Bruce Hulston was one of the key people involved in the amalgamation of the Toorak and East Malvern Clubs, along with Joe Hough Snr and Bruce Prossor. Bruce was a great hockey player who represented Victoria. Bruce unfortunately passed away from a stroke in 1975.

WINNER - CLAIRE DOUGLAS

Claire has done an enormous amount of work this year in all aspects of our hockey club. She was women's secretary,  played Reserves, coached (both juniors and seniors) as well as helped with social events and BBQs.

With the juniors this year, Claire coached our U16 Girls Shield team, and also at our TEM Academy sessions.  She organised the weekly training sessions for the U14/U16 Girls by creating a session plan each and coordinating coaches. She also  often helped out  with U10 training before her U16 training. 

Claire also spent many hours putting together a drill bank, which all the coaches could utilise for their trainings. 

For the Women's section, Claire ran Wednesday night trainings for the Pennant and Metro grades by writing drills for each session and coordinating coaches for each week.

She also sat on the committee as Women's Secretary for which she did an enormous amount of work supporting Penny throughout the year.

She helped out Caitlin and Alex on our social committee when organising social events (those we did have and planning those that didn't end up going ahead) and was also a great help with coordinating the BBQs on home rounds. 

As a Level 2 coach, Claire has also been proactive in mentoring our junior coaches this year and getting them accredited.  

Claire is always willing to put her hand up to help wherever and whenever she is needed and does so always with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

She continues to come up with new ideas for the club, whether it be in regards to trainings and games or social events to keep people connected.

Claire is such a deserved winner of this year's Bruce Hulston Award for Best Clubperson as she is a true all round CLUB person!
