WOMENS VP SPEECH
By Penny Senior
Whilst 2021 wasn’t the complete season we were hoping for, we got back on the pitch and absolutely made the most of it.
As we navigated restrictions and lock-down, the grit and determination to play and be competitive was evident across the women’s division from the moment the ladies hit the pitch for pre-seaon.
We had incredible numbers week in week out across all three training sessions, we welcomed 15 new players, a number of juniors playing seniors for the first time, had over 110 women registered and be available for selection each week and were able to enter a 7th team.
The hard work most definitely paid off, with all teams holding their grades and the Pennant E ladies working hard to reach the club goal of being promoted to Pen D for the 2022 season.
It was incredible to watch the women across all grades continue to build and develop the welcoming, inclusive and supportive culture makes being a part of this club incredible and makes me equally proud to Champion the women's division.
To make all of this happen, takes a lot of work from a lot of amazing people.
Our coaching group, Ross Sudano, Sam Arch, Leanne Downer, Teresa Leonard, Tony Dudley, Sam Hill and Cam MacPhie, your hard work, dedication and support over the season has been amazing and I cannot thank you all enough. Your time and effort is absolutely appreciated, so not only from myself but the players, Thank you.
Jen Eager, our Chairwomen of Selections, with over a 110 women register to play and select week in week out, selections were tougher than ever and I cannot thank Jen enough for the incredible job she did across the season. Your patience, balanced and fair approach was amazing and played such an integral part to the success shared amongst the teams this year.
Claire Douglas- Women's Secretary. For all your support in taking on the role this year, the thousand phone calls and text messages you received from me, your proactive attitude and positive nature, you have been amazing and will be missed. I wish you all the best on your next adventure, teaching in Ballarat.
Team managers, captains, fill in coaches, fill in goalies, parents and of course the players, thank you! For turning up rain, hail or shine, for always having a smile on your face, for working hard, for having fun and for continuously demonstrating TEM Pride and what it means to be a TEMs Lion #YTG
I look forward to seeing you all back on the pitch next year.
Penny
