Pathway to Federation University

If you thought that university was not for you because you don’t have the academic background or the study skills, or if you have finished year 12 but do not have the entry requirements you need to start a degree, the Foundation Access Studies program (FAST) may be the pathway for you.

Students who have completed VCAL or an unscored VCE can apply for the Foundation Access Studies (FAST) Program at Federation University.

FAST is a single-semester program designed to teach students effective study techniques, including academic writing, research, use of university systems, and how to apply these skills to their studies. When students successfully complete FAST, they will be ready to undertake degree-level study at Federation University.

Students who are currently completing VCAL, unscored VCE or those who do not meet the specified pre-requisite studies for FAST will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy test to determine their eligibility for admission.

These students must apply to the FAST program via VTAC. It is important that they create a VTAC account in the timely application period to prevent them from having to pay late application fees.

FAST is the only prerequisite required for many of Federation’s bachelor’s degree programs.

New RMIT Program: Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering

RMIT is introducing a brand-new Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering) (Honours) program which merges the electronic, computer systems and telecommunications engineering programs all into one. This means students will be able to develop fundamental skills in each field and then choose to specialise in one or more areas based on their interests and career goals. RMIT is ranked in the top 100 universities globally for electrical and electronic engineering and students are encouraged to browse Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering to find out more.

Bachelor of Radiation Sciences Prerequisites

Students are advised to note that the mathematics prerequisite requirements for the Bachelor of Radiation Sciences (VTAC code: 2800310841) are VCE Units 3 and 4 with a study score of at least 25 in Maths: Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics. Please note that Further Mathematics is no longer accepted for this course as outlined in VICTER 2022. Please disregard the 2022 Undergraduate Course Guide listing Further Mathematics as a prerequisite option. Students should follow the prerequisite advice included in VTAC.

More Places available to undertake a Monash Double Degree

In 2022, Monash will be expanding the availability and access for domestic students across a range of its courses, including many double degree courses in arts, humanities and sciences; business; information technology and law. This change means more students will be more successful in their double degree preference than in previous years.

Elite Student Athlete and Performer Entry Scheme

Students who are elite athletes or performers may be eligible for the Elite Student Athlete and Performer Entry Scheme, which can provide them additional consideration of up to 10 ATAR points for entry into Monash’ undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students with Disabilities

Monash University promotes access and equity for all students. Its Disability Support Services assists students (and carers of people) with disabilities, mental health, and ongoing medical conditions. This includes students with learning difficulties and students on the Autism Spectrum. There are a range of services available, including exam supports, flexibility with extensions, note-taking and Auslan interpreting. Students are encouraged to seek support at Disability Support Services.

Double career options in Education

Students who want to become a teacher but are also passionate about something else are able to choose a double degree with the Bachelor of Education (Honours) which can double their career options. Students can combine primary or secondary education with arts, business, fine art, music or science and gain two separate qualifications in just four years. New Health Course in 2022

Healthcare is underpinned by information, but who manages it all? Operate from behind the scenes in the Bachelor of Health Information Management.

Snapshot of Deakin – Waurn Ponds Campus in 2021

Deakin has a long history of working with local and international industry and business to turn ideas into commercial reality, solve real-world problems and provide current and future employees with the skills they need for 21st century careers.
The Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus is home to the Geelong Technology Precinct. The precinct focuses on Deakin's core research capabilities in materials, biotechnology, chemistry, and environmental engineering, along with regional strengths in manufacturing and agri-processing.
The Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus is also home to the CADET building – the Centre for Advanced Design in Engineering Training. The $55 million state-of-the-art facility houses some of the most advanced and future-focused simulation and visualisation systems, purpose-built interactive laboratories and learning environments in the country.
The 4-year Medical Imaging course offered by Deakin is taught at the Waurn Ponds Campus - Medical Imaging. The department is a fully equipped x-ray department, and students have access to adult-sized human models designed to be x-rayed and reflect human-like responses to x-rays. This course provides knowledge in medical radiation science and trains students in techniques like general radiography, computed tomography (CT), digital vascular imaging and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Deakin University's Faculty of Health offers the Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry - Optometry. Students have access to a dedicated simulated optometry store for simulated exercises. Clinical placement rotations take place in both metropolitan and regional or rural settings, where students consolidate their knowledge and skills under the supervision of qualified optometrists. Deakin Optometry is housed in the Regional Community Health Hub (REACH) building.
Deakin’s School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences - Exercise & Sport Science - is also in the REACH building. Again, exercise & sport science students have access to state-of-the-art equipment. Students also have access to Deakin’s Elite Regional Sports Precinct while completing their course. Of note is the added fact that Deakin's School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences is ranked the third highest sport science school in the world, according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
The School of Medicine - School of Medicine – is another state-of-the-art facility at the Deakin Waurn Ponds Campus – opened in 2008 and offers a 4-year graduate medical degree, with 2 years of pre-clinical education at the University campus in Waurn Ponds, and then 2 years of clinical education and experience in one of its clinical schools – hospitals as far-flung as Ballarat to Box Hill.

The Geelong Waurn Ponds student accommodation is only 15 minutes from the Geelong CBD and five minutes from Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. A new 320-bed accommodation precinct was ready for Trimester 1, 2021 offering students a contemporary, affordable, high-quality living experience. Around 1070 students call Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus home.
