Landmark Matilda's Equal Pay Deal

Football Federation Australia and Professional Footballers Australia have announced a new agreement that closes the pay gap between Australia's national teams - the Socceroos and the Matildas. This new agreement reflects football's determination to address issues of gender equality.

At the World Cup earlier this year the women's team reached the knockout finals and received 1 million dollars for their efforts, while the Socceroos made 8 million for just qualifying for the World Cup.  This obviously isn't fair and to have equal pay for both men and women in this field of sport would be a great improvement and hopefully this will soon become reality as there has been talk of giving the Matalida's the same amount of pay as the Socceroos.  Equal pay is already a reality in tennis and I am hopeful it will soon be the same in soccer and other sports.
