The Year 9 Mandarin class participated in an excursion to Chinatown on May 29th. Our first stop was the Chinese Museum, where students had the opportunity to explore the 'Finding Gold' exhibition. It provided valuable insights into Chinese people’s life on the goldfields during the 1850s. In the 'Dragon Gallery', we learnt about symbols that held great importance to the Chinese dragon and the history of dragon parades in Australia. The 'Han Dynasty' section showcased intriguing inventions from Ancient China. Additionally, the 'One Million Stories' exhibition gave us a unique perspective on Chinese-Australian history, spanning 200 years up to the present day. Following the tour, we enjoyed a delightful lunch at a Chinese restaurant. To top off our excursion, we ventured through the renowned Little Bourke Street.

On Tuesday 6th June the Arts Learning Area hosted its first Year 9 Showcase. Students Artwork was on display from Visual Arts, Ceramics and Photography. Once guests had delighted in this vast array of art they then took their seats for a splendid evening of Drama, Dance and Musical performances. Thank you to the supportive audience who attended and we look forward to seeing you at the end of year Arts event.

Last week in year 10, we took time to reflect on the success we had in semester 1 with a celebration assembly before Semester 2 subjects began in week 9. We acknowledged the hard work and commitment of a number of students for the representation of the College values, attainment for their first VCE/VM unit in Industry and Enterprise, work experience and Hands on Learning.

We would also like to commend all Year 10 Students on their successful completion of their first exams. Students prepared well and worked hard throughout the exam week to achieve success.
