PVOTE FOR BROOKSIDE COLLEGE!

Brookside College has been invited to contribute to the CS Square Education Week display with a submission focused on the topic of Active Learners: Move, Make Motivate. The entries will be displayed outside Woolworths at CS Square from Monday, 15 May until Sunday, 4 June and the community will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite entry. The school with the most votes will win a $500 Officeworks gift voucher. Now in its 79th year, Education Week, 14-20 May; celebrates the strengths and achievements of Victoria’s education sector.

A group of students from Years 4 & 6 worked on the project during their lunchtimes and you can see their entry at CS Square from next Monday. They decided to create a jigsaw puzzle showing all of the learning that happens in the Primary classes of our school. Please take the time to pop into CS Square during the voting period to vote for Brookside College’s entry!

In other Primary Art news…

Prep students have identified, discussed, and applied different shapes that have been observed in around the classroom to create a composition.

The Year 1s have successfully created a winter tree using ink and paper by applying the blow painting technique.

The Year 2’s have applied the technique of colour blending. They have been able to define that a colour blend is created by intersecting two overlapping colours. Our students have also used a few different mixed media to make their activity more interesting.

The Year 6 students will soon begin a multi-media project with an ‘Identity’ theme. In preparation, they looked at portraits from many different artist from various time periods and countries and thought about the ideas and colours used in the artworks.
