THS Performing Arts

Shakespeare Festival

This year, the year 11 and year 10 theatre classes performed "The Tempest" and "Romeo and Juliet" during Shakespeare Fest. As a part of the year 11 theatre class, it was a highlight of my time at Thornbury High so far. Since the start of the year, both classes spent endless hours working towards performing these two shows, and that hard work paid off on the night, as audience members left the auditorium in tears, both hysterically laughing and balling with sadness. Each play showcased the amount of talent and hard work that each year level put towards both of their shows, and I am proud to have been a part of something so fun, exciting and meaningful.

- Freddy, year 11

It was an enjoyable experience getting involved in acting and showcasing a performance to the audience. During the term, we recognised our roles and found meaning and intention in our characters. It allowed us to bring ourselves into our role and understand the concept of acting. Through many practices and after-school rehearsals, our class progressively enhanced our cooperation which bonded us together as a team. As expected, “The Tempest” resulted in a fabulous show and I feel really proud.
