Tractor Delivery

By Mitch Coombs

Kyabram P-12 College recently took delivery of a New Holland Boomer 50 tractor.  The purchase of this tractor was supported by the Secondary Schools Agriculture Fund, which is funded by Agriculture Victoria as part of the four-year $50 million Agricultural College Modernisation Program.

The tractor will support the roll-out and delivery of Certificate II in Agriculture and allow our students the opportunity to learn relevant trade-skills on trade standard machinery.  This tractor is an important part of our VET Agriculture program, which is aiming to make our students workplace ready and transition them into the agricultural industry. The skills our students will be able to develop through this opportunity will be transferable to many different agricultural settings, but also across many other professions.  Having relevant equipment such as this, and the training which goes with it, enable our students to develop competence, but also industry and workplace connections.

Shepparton Rural, part of the Rural group, were able to provide the tractor to the school, and branch manager, Nick Pettigrove, was able to deliver a safety induction to the students while also remarking how lucky they were, for when he was a student at the school, he would have loved the opportunity that they now have.

The expansion of our VET offerings through VET Agriculture is part of the school’s commitment to provide exceptional educational opportunities to our students which will set them up for whatever future they desire.
