Peer and self-feedback are an important part of the learning and teaching at St. Fidelis. It provides our students with valuable opportunities for reflection, learning and improvement. It helps them develop a greater understanding of their strengths, challenges and areas for growth.
When reflecting on their performance and receiving input from peers, students have increased self-confidence and motivation, which enables them to continue growing and learning. Through descriptive feedback from teachers and students, learners gain new insights into improving their learning and approaching the next steps in their learning.
Peer feedback provides an opportunity for students to learn from each other. They can share knowledge, skills and strategies, which enriches their learning experience. It also promotes teamwork and cooperation and builds a learning community that acknowledges successes and encourages growth.
Self-reflection empowers students to take ownership of their learning journey. They can monitor their learning progress and set goals. They become active participants in their learning.
All teachers use Learning Intentions and Success Criteria in the learning spaces. This enables students and teachers to give descriptive feedback about learning.
At St. Fidelis, our pedagogical framework enables teachers to implement best practices and for students to have a voice and be active participants in their learning.
Learning Intentions | What am I learning? Why? |
Success Criteria | How am I going? |
Descriptive Feedback | How do I know how I am going? |
Peer and Self-feedback | How can I improve? |
Here are some ways students have been reflecting on their learning.

Last Monday, a group of preschoolers and their parents/grandparents gathered for our Storytime session. We played with different toys for a while and then listened to the story “The things I love about my birthday” by Trace Moroney. After we all shared what we like about our own birthdays, we decorated a paper crown. We even included in our decorating, the initial letter of our first name!
Storytime is so much fun on a Monday afternoon!
Over the past few weeks, different kinder groups have visited our school to participate in a STEM session. At the end of the session all the children were given a bag containing bits and pieces to create their very own robot. Check out some of the creative robots that were sent from Doris Blackburn Kinder!
