Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you all enjoyed the Book week activities as much as we did!  A big thank you to Jo, Sonja and the team for all the organisation for the book fair, the wonderful dress up parade, guest author and poster competition.

Our kids did a wonderful job participating in all of the activities and practised being a respectful audience. It was a lot of fun for all the staff as well 😊

Reading is a vital skill.  It enables us to participate in life fully, is excellent for helping our brains organise patterns and strategies and is really just one of life’s pleasures.

I have had a lot of favourite books over the time, ones I love to read and re-read.  My favourite picture story book at the moment is “The Speedy Sloth” which I also got to read and live streamed as a part of the National Simultaneous Story Reading event.   My favourite novel at the moment is “Boy Overboard” a story about a young refugee.

It is so important for our kids to practice reading every day and even more important for our families to read to our kids in English and our home languages.  This shows our kids that we all love reading and helps to engage them while they are practicing the skills.

Thank you to all the families that attended the book fair.  I hope you were able to find that special book to share. Happy reading.

Our walk to school day was a great success.  We all enjoyed the smiley tattoos and fruit as we arrived into school.  It certainly had an impact on the car parking and safety for our kids in the morning!!  It is such a healthy way to start our day!!!!!

Regards Teresa
