The 2020 MEB Christmas Party

For the past two weeks we have experienced some very hot weather making the use of the College pool facilities a priority, both in the afternoon and the night.

Last week we were able to go off campus for the first time since the COVID-19 restrictions. We all gathered as a whole boarding school community, and walked together to the Sturt Mall and Wagga Marketplace where the students enjoyed dining in the food court and shopping for the latest trends and Christmas party costumes. The boarding supervisors were located in the food court of both precincts to supervise the students on their shopping adventures and to ensure that COVID-19 safe practices were followed.

The Boarding Captains and I enjoyed planning and preparing for the 2020 Christmas Party and Trivia Night last Wednesday. Our chef prepared a Christmas feast, featuring creamy chicken and rice for entree, traditional Christmas ham roast for mains and Christmas pudding and custard for dessert. As a boarding family we enjoyed the meal with friends and supervisors. The students enjoyed dressing up in their Christmas attire. We had students as Santa Claus and even a few elves running around the boarding house. Even the supervisors joined in with their fun Christmas t-shirts.

The students were all eager to win the best dressed contest. The winners were:

Senior boys: Mikey Fenny and Johnny Holtz
Junior boys: Bailey McDonald
Senior girls: Zoe Holland
Junior girls: Laura Porter and Caitlan Daily

After the Christmas dinner there was lots of fun to be had, with the students joining in the annual Christmas trivia. The final scores were very close with one point separating first and second. The students also participated in a range of fun activities during the night, including the apple bob, water pong challenge and the best presented box wrapping contest. Prizes on the night consisted of Dominos pizza vouchers and a giant chocolate Christmas stocking.

I would like to take this time to wish all the boarding students and their parents/carers a happy and safe Christmas holiday.
