Darwinia House

The final newsletter from Darwinia House sees us saying farewell to our senior students and welcoming our new. Year 12 exams are over and students are waiting to get their results. Year 10 and 11 students have just completed their exam program and are currently in their Smart Start classes, in preparation for 2021.

We have been very proud of our students and the way they demonstrated resilience and perseverance through remote learning. Term 4 has been an opportunity for us, now back at school, to finally seeing each other face-to-face (or eye-to-eye, with masks still being compulsory in class!). It has been such a joy to be back and doing the 'almost normal'. Even the students have commented on how much they have missed being here and engaging with their peers and teachers.

Last week, we welcomed the Grade 6 students who will be our Year 7 cohort for 2021. A nervous and yet excited group of students had a wonderful day, experiencing a 'Day in the Life of a Year 7 Student' in preparation for a less anxious start in 2021.

This is my last newsletter, as I have made the decision to retire after 39 years of teaching. It has been such a privilege to be the House Leader of Darwinia and in teaching so many students in the Dandenong area since 1983. It will be a very new chapter for me and I am looking forward to it very much.

The staff and leadership team of Darwinia wish all our Darwinia families a safe and restful holiday and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
