Sports Days

Just a reminder to all students please remember your drink bottle for sports classes.  Drinking water when we exercise is very important for all ages.

 

Sports Class Days for 2021 are:

2021 Team Vic State Team Trials

Registrations are now open for any child in Year 6 (12 years and under) who would like to try out for the State Teams in Australia Football, Basketball, Netball and Soccer.  Children are reminded that the skills required for these teams must be exceptional.  It is not a ‘Come and Try’ system. Children are required to check with the school principal or sports teacher for endorsement to go to the trials.

Sacred Heart Swimming Sports Years 4-6

The Sacred Heart Swimming sports will take place at the Winchelsea Swimming pool this Thursday 11th February.  The swimming carnival will commence at 10.00am and finish at 1.30pm. Children will be travelling by bus to this event. 

Children are reminded that it is very important to be ‘Sun Smart’ on the day. Children will need to have clothing to cover up with when they are not swimming e.g. rashie, long t-shirt, hat etc. Children will need to come to school with sunscreen applied. Sunscreen will be available for re-application.

Any parents who are attending this event, please make sure that you are:

1. Currently well, with no covid-19 symptoms – fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath, runny nose etc. 

2. Have had a Covid-19 test and are awaiting results.

3. Have been in close contact with someone who is a confirmed case of coronavirus in the last 14 days.

Year 5/6 Lawn Bowls

This Friday 12th February, our Year 5/6 children will travel by bus to the Colac Bowling Club (Lake Bowling Club) in Armstrong Street.  The children will learn about the game of lawn bowls and it will be a part of the selection process for our Sacred Heart Lawn Bowls Team that will compete at the Colac Primary Schools Lawn Bowls Tournament.  Children will need to wear their sports uniform.

Year 6 children will bowl from 10.30am – 12.00noon

Year 5 children will bowl from 12.00noon – 1.30pm

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival Years 3 - 6

The Sacred Heart Athletics Day for years 3-6 will take place on Friday 19th February at the Colac Central Reserve. The athletics will start at 9.45am and finish at approximately 

1.30 pm. Children will be walking to the Central Reserve on this day. We do need parents to help with Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus, Shot Put and Race Placing.  Children will need to wear their sports uniform.

Your Decision Counts is a deep dive in to an umpire’s decision making process.  Covers topics such as Contact vs Contest, Obstruction and Advantage, bio-mechanics, and how positioning and vision effect decision making.It is a highly recommended workshop for umpires with a C badge accreditation working towards their B badge, or umpires with a B badge accreditation. Delivered by high performance umpires.
