Inside the Classrooms and Around SSPS

Green Team

Syndal South cares about the environment and so we have created a brand new Green Team! Each class now has a Green Team representative who will meet fortnightly with Miss Jason, Mrs Blaber, the Environment Captains and Nature Ambassadors to plan, discuss and put into action initiatives throughout the school to look after our environment.

The members of the first Syndal South Green Team are:

FRGuranjas3PSama
FALily4BGrace
1SKiera4PEmily
1JThea5CThinaya
2HImogen5GPKate
2PFZoe6SChloe
3SNayanka6DKameswara

This week the Green Team met for the very first time and they have some extremely exciting news . . . Syndal South will be taking part in the Wonder Recycling Rewards for schools program. This program encourages schools to collect plastic bread bags and bread tags so they can be recycled and turned into play equipment for schools. Furthermore, every school participating has the chance to earn sports equipment for their school. The more we collect, the more we earn.

So start saving those bread bags and tags from landfill and bring them to school instead. They can be ANY brand, must be plastic and free from crumbs. Your child can bring them to class to give to their Green Team rep or you can place them in the recycling bins which will be at the school office.

Mother's Day

Year 2 students took gorgeous photos with this personalised frame and made magnets for their beautiful Mother's.

Year 2 Inquiry

In Year 2 students have been conducting experiments for their 'change' unit in which they are practicing predicting, observing and explaining.  Last week students were involved in this colour changing experiment.

Autumn Walk

Our Foundation students went on an Autumn walk around the local neighbourhood last week and collected leaves.  This was a great experience that they discussed with their parents and enabled them to continue to develop their oral language. This experience was their inspiration for their Big Write the following day where students used WOW words to describe their experience and what they saw.
