Year 7 Year Adviser

Allyssia Lloyd

Term 2 has been a busy and entertaining term for all Year 7 students and their teachers. Year 7 students have had the opportunity to participate in a number of events including the Athletics carnival, Zone carnivals, Haka Warriors and the Haka Girls program. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in MADDFEST in Week 10, as a singer, dancer or spectator.

Ms Azzi and I have been very proud of the student’s behaviour, participation and encouragement of others in our whole school events. We look forward to continuing to see Year 7 grow and achieve the many goals they have set for themselves.

Parents and carers are reminded to ensure that their child is coming to school every day in full school uniform (including black leather shoes), that students are wearing their PE uniform whenever they have practical lessons and on Fridays for sport. It is also required that students have all necessary equipment for each class in order to maximise their learning outcomes.

Hear from a year 7 student…

“On the first day of school I found it a little overwhelming because I didn’t know anyone. When I walked into my roll call classroom I remember thinking how scary this was going to be… but it wasn’t! I started talking to some of the people and quickly made some friends.

I have really enjoyed PDHPE as a subject because we get to be outside to learn about and play different sports with my friends. I also enjoy Technology because I am learning new skills.

The Athletics carnival was so much fun, I really enjoyed the whole day. I came third in shotput and all I remember is hearing my friends cheer me on, they are so supportive!

I look forward to continue learning new things at Evans and to see what the future holds for me.”

Year 9 Year Adviser

Maati El Hafiane

Year 9 students are an enthusiastic cohort who have been working hard academically and have represented Evans High School in a number of sporting and extracurricular events. They have been enjoying their electives with a number of students cooking, creating assessments in Woodwork and Metalwork, studying Commerce and History Electives whilst also learning a new language.

A big congratulations to Peter, Puri and Rex who were part of the Evans High School's HAKA Warrior program. They participated in a competition held at the Sydney Coliseum and the group won first prize. We are all extremely proud of the boys and the way they represented our year group and the school.

Students have a busy term ahead, with the NAPLAN assessments, Half-Yearly Examinations and a number of programs the Careers Adviser has organised for Year 9 to participate in. A reminder to all students, that the Homework Centre is currently running on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 2:45 – 4:45 pm in the library. Students have also participated in the athletics carnival and it's great to see a number of students taking part and  moving on to the next phase which is the Zone carnival.

Ms Elliot and I are extremely proud of all the students in the year group and encourage them to continue working hard in achieving all their goals they set out at the start of the year.

Year 11 Year Adviser

Melissa Silva

Term 2 has been an exciting and busy time for our Year 11 students. During Week 2, Year 11 students sat their Half-Yearly Examinations. It was great to see so many students thriving and working hard to do their best in the exams.

We also had the Athletics Carnival in Week 4. I would like to congratulate all of the Year 11 students for all their assistance on the day. Many students helped with individual events such as long jump, discuss and javelin. As well as delivering food and coffee to all of the teachers. Well done to all the students who participated in the events on the day.

Coming up this term, students will be attending the RYDA driver and safety awareness program as part of the Life Ready Course in Week 5. This will be held at the Regatta Centre in Penrith. Students will engage in a range of activities that will develop their driver safety knowledge.

In Week 6, Evans is also holding a Parent Teacher night for Year 11 and 12 students. Please make sure you book a time to speak with your child’s teachers.

A reminder to Year 11 students that with the colder months approaching, it is important for students to wear their full school uniform and arrive at school on time every day.

We are looking forward to another great term!
