Feedback on Learning Tasks: how is my child going?

At Doncaster Secondary College, we provide detailed feedback to students and parents about specific tasks on set dates throughout the year.

All parents and Students please check your learning tasks. This week teachers have posted new results and comments in a flagged learning task on Compass. Parents and students should review these results and it is very beneficial for students to reflect on their work and place some comments in the conversation box of each task.

See the instructions below if you are unsure about how to access these Learning Tasks.

Year 9 My Career Insights: Morrisby career assessment

My Career Insights is a fully-funded program for all Year 9 students in government secondary schools. This program will help your Year 9 child to learn about what skills and abilities they could bring to a job, find out about what jobs match their abilities, interests and personality, and the subjects they need for those jobs. As part of the program, your child will:

  • complete a series of online questions and quizzes (on the Morrisby Profile website) as directed during their DiSCovery class in weeks 8 and 9 this term.
  • receive a Morrisby Profile Report showing the results from the questions and quizzes, and possible jobs that match their abilities, interests and personality
  • have a 30-minute meeting in August with an accredited career advisor, who will explain the report to your child. You may choose to also attend this meeting.

If your child does not participate in the program or does not complete the questions and quizzes, a Morrisby Profile Report will not be created for them. An event providing this information is now available for parents of all students in Year 9 to provide consent for their child to participate.

Details and practice questions will be provided prior to the assessment and counselling will be provided in August to further explore and understand the results. The career profile within Morrisby Online includes timed assessments of:

  • verbal Reasoning
  • numerical Reasoning
  • abstract Reasoning
  • spatial concepts
  • mechanical concepts

Testing will take place over two classes, starting the week of June 7th and there is no cost to students. The results of these are presented as a profile showing individual strengths and direction. This is coupled with the Personality and Aspirations Questionnaires which assesses career interests, preferences and motivations. Benefits include:

  • increases self-awareness by providing objective analysis of aptitudes, interests, motivations and preferences.
  • provides students with focus, direction and motivation in their studies.
  • helps students to select the most relevant subjects, courses and careers.
  • allows parents to become fully involved by providing access to results, analyses and information.
  • supports students with lifetime access to their own personal interactive career and educational planning website.

If you would like more information watch the video below ‘About My Career Insights’.
