Trivia Night 2021

The bright lights of Hollywood lured a large cohort of Fairfield parents out of post-lockdown hibernation to put their collective minds to the test. Prior to Saturday’s event, these quiz attendees were seen scouring the op shops, bargain stores and costume providers to ensure they could be as incognito as possible for the evening ahead.

As soon as the doors opened on the night, it was clear that everyone was committed to the theme and the spirit of the evening. The Thornbury Theatre provided a magnificent backdrop for the Hollywood paraphernalia adorning the room – it was clear a huge amount of time and effort had been put into pulling the event together.

A huge thank you must go to Warren Staples who was Quizmaster extraordinaire and skilfully controlled the excited crowd. The best parent band in Melbourne, Double Denim, were also significant contributors on the night by setting the mood for the evening, creating Rockwiz-style trivia in round two, and playing two energetic sets after. This was accentuated by the brilliant sound and lighting by Michael Pascoe. The evening was closed out by DJ Chris Fri-Yay who also managed to find a spot on the winning trivia table.

It is a credit to the school community the vast number of people who volunteered their time to make this event possible. Megan Fairbank had the vision and drive. She was ably assisted in decorations and planning by Amy Osborne and Tony Stokes, Bianca Devitt, Amber and Craig Mahony, Ange Gregori, Monika and Craig Nitschke, Tamara Powell and Paula Stafford. On the night the diligent scorers included Tamlin Staples, Julie Calvert, Corrin McNamara, Megan Fairbank, Gub and Janet Martin.  Also a big thank you to Sarah Moody for all the communications and ticketing and Maree Porra for an awesome job with the online Silent Auction.

Not only was a night of fun had by all, a significant amount of money was raised for the school. There were incredibly generous donations from 35 local businesses which made the raffle and silent auction possible. It was wonderful to see that the Fairfield Primary School spirit is alive and well and people haven’t forgotten how to have a good time.
