National Reconciliation Week

This week, the College has been recognising National Reconciliation Week both with our staff and through classes. The theme is “More than a Word. Reconciliation takes action”. In Chapel our focus was on building respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. We looked at artworks and storytelling to convey important messages of God’s creation and His love for us. We are adding our voice to calls for reconciliation and justice. Our Year 9 students last week spent time in Broken Hill and they also had the opportunity to meet with First Nations guides to learn about the local communities, their stories and the beautiful land that they walk upon.

Resilience

Another period of “Lockdown” should allow us to focus on the importance of connectedness and resilience. With classes and activities moving on-line, we know we can continue the academic learning but also the learning about self and the importance of self-care and meeting the challenges we face.
