Learning Centre News...
Learning Centre 1
In LC1 we have settled beautifully back into our school routine - it’s almost like we never left!
We all could not believe how resilient the students have been adjusting to home learning then coming back into school in week 7 settled, calm and ready to learn. We are really proud of our Prep students!
We have continued to work on our Author Study: Julia Donaldson, the students have loved listening to her stories. There are some great books you can listen to online if you don’t have access to her books at home. She also has a series of animated stories on youtube that go for around 30 minutes - They are fantastic.
Just a reminder for Term 3 to make sure all jumpers, beanies and items brought to school are clearly labelled ~ we are continuing to encourage our Preps to be responsible with their belongings so we appreciate your support in doing this.
During the holidays we would love them to have a big rest (our teachers need it too) so we are not going to send home any ‘Holiday Homework’.
Please note: if you would like something to do reading each day, writing/drawing and simple addition/subtraction problems will all be amazing practice. Please focus on letter sounds (over letter names) if you are working on this at home.
The teachers and I would love to thank you so much for your support over this very strange term! It will certainly be a year we remember. You have all done an incredible job with your child at home and they have adapted so well.
On Monday the 22nd of June we had a wonderful day creating and writing about Monsters. We had a ‘fun day’ at school to match our fun casual clothes! Here are some pictures from our day!
We wish you all a safe and happy holidays.
Thanks ~ Danielle, Jannine, Tina, Shalome and Hazel

This has certainly been the strangest term we have experienced in LC2. We thank all families for being able to facilitate the learning remotely for our students for week 1-8 and it is amazing that they have come back with it looking like they haven't been away at all.
We are looking forward to being a whole centre in Term Three looking at our country Australia and how we all make up important pieces of our cultural puzzle.
If families have visited parts of Australia in their travels and have images they would allow to come to school next term, please make a copy and send them along from week one.
The images attached reflect our learning this week on our casual dress day - a uniform the children were used to more this term than their school uniform.

It was such a wonderful day when we all gathered again in LC3 for Term 2.
We had missed everyone while being on remote learning at home and the children and staff were so excited to see one another again.
A big thank you to all our parent community for continuing to develop their child's learning journey.
Over the Term there has been lots of learning happening around the 1/2 Learning Groups and the children have adapted to the 'New Normal' of entering the building each day and following the hygiene and social distancing regulations throughout the school.
We have been busy in Literacy composing, editing and publishing our Narrative stories and we have focused each day on improving our Handwriting skills. The children have been encouraged to read books on Bug Club and to spend time at the conclusion of the story to answer comprehension questions. Developing reading comprehension skills is incredibly important for growing readers, starting as early as picture books. As children get older, it will help them understand textbooks, newspapers, and other more complex texts. Children need to be explicitly taught comprehension skills. They also need to be given opportunities to practise how and when to utilise these strategies in order to help them make sense of what they are reading. It is important that children read for at least 20 minutes a day and we encourage this throughout the holidays.
Next term we will be learning about Information Reports in Literacy, we will be studying Geography during Inquiry and learning about measurement (length), data and money . Over the term holidays you may want to start reading text with this genre in mind and practising mathematical skills to support Term 3's learning.
Wishing you all a safe, restful and enjoyable term break.

How strange has Term 2 been? It is one we won't forget in a hurry.
Firstly a huge shout out to all our senior students and their families, on the fabulous job with Remote Learning. Our senior students and staff are to be congratulated, their resilience, perseverance and willingness to continue their learning no matter what obstacles they faced is a credit to them.
During Remote Learning one of the challenges we set was an Inquiry 'Living History - My Story. Check out some of our Life in ISO collages created by our talented students using Canva.
Since returning to school in Week 9 the Senior students have adjusted and settled back into school life & routine with ease. We are so proud of all students in LC4.

Ten Cheeky Monkeys

Eight cheeky monkeys went to seven eleven, one couldn't pay and then there were seven.
Seven cheeky monkeys wee doing card tricks, one hit himself and then there were six.
Six cheeky monkeys were all alive, one wasn't and then there were five.
Five cheeky monkeys were all poor, one moved to New York and then there were four.
Four cheeky monkeys sat under a tree, a heavy branch fell on one and then there were three.
Three cheeky monkeys all went to Peru, one got arrested and then there were two.
Two cheeky monkeys are unaware the quatrain is done, one finishes the next line and then there was one.
One cheeky monkey takes a trip to the sun, he gets cooked and then there were none.
A Meadow of Seasons
by Bakhita
A Lotus flower
In a springtime lake,
A lotus dancing.
A cool summer breeze
In the warming summer lake,
Sunflowers swaying.
Gold leaves twirl off trees
The gentle tulips join in,
The tulips twirling.
A still icy lake
Delicate snowflakes dancing,
The lavenders gaze.
The fragrant spring lake
Something has happened to it,
The seasons meadow.
Butterflies
by Khyathi
Gentle wings flapping,
Fluttering through the cool breeze
Blue butterflies glide.
Storm
by Nakshathra
White lightening crackled
Rain banging hard on the roof
Clouds bury the sun
Wind sleeping tonight
Leaves, sticks and branches relieved
Waves feel gentle now.

There once was a tech head named Alice,
Who lived in a virtual palace,
Which was stuffed with tech,
She probably had 50 mech,
And now she can take over Paris.
We hope you all have a restful holiday & we look forward to starting Term 3 fresh and raring to go.
