Principal's Chat

Good Afternoon families,

Term two is done and could well be the strangest school term that any of us have experienced!

I thank each and every family for their support of the school and the calm and sensible approach that everyone has adopted as the COVID-19 situation unfolded.

COVID Restrictions

At this stage there is no indication that the current restrictions in regards to visitors to the school, school gatherings and staggered dismissal times will cease.  Due to the increased cases that are currently presenting in Victoria it is unlikely that any of the school restrictions will be relaxed in the short term.  The good news if that there is no indication of further school closures!

Semester One Reports

You will now have access to your child's / children's reports through the parent portal.  These semester reports look vastly different from the usual and contain less information than you will have received in previous years.  The reports offer an overview of term one's learning and a statement about remote learning.  I'd suggest that you have a read with your children and celebrate the successes in semester one including the opportunities that learning from home provided.

Kristina's reports will be uploaded in the first week of Term 3 as Kris was on bereavement leave during report writing.

Enrolments for 2021 and School Tours

The 2021 enrolments are open.  If you have a prep student that is due to begin school next year please contact the office.

There remains a directive in place for school tours to be put on hold.  School tours for prospective families have been cancelled until it is deemed safe to open the school to visitors again.  School tours will advertised as soon as we are able to offer this service.

Sacraments

In early Term 3 I have a meeting with the other principals and Father Albert to discuss and plan for Sacraments.  At this stage alternative dates have not been set.  While masses remain at the limited number of 20 participants there will not be any dates set until we can be assured that celebrations can go ahead.  As soon as dates can be confirmed they will communicated to the community.  There is a review of gathering numbers and social distancing protocols scheduled for July 12th which may alter the permitted numbers at mass and church celebrations.

Again, I thank everyone for their patience in regards to the Sacramental program.

As the term comes to a close I wish everyone a restful break.  It seems the state of Victoria has regressed a little in the Coronavirus situation and the number of current cases, so if you are travelling please stay safe.  Thank you everyone for the continued support and collaborative successes during a very strange term that has required a great amount of flexibility in our school, personal and professional lives.  I'd like to acknowledge the magnificent effort of the teachers throughout Term 2 in supporting students throughout the weeks of remote learning.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 13th July to begin Term 3 and I sincerely hope that you all manage to turn off the news, relax and enjoy the school holidays.

Stay safe and stay well.

Justin
