Mission Statements

Last issue's Sustainability Mission Statement was all about RECYCLING. We were very proud of our students who were able to create their own recycling box and monitor what items should be collected to be recycled. Every little action will save unnecessary waste ending up in our landfill.

Congratulations to Liam in Prep F, Aarya Prep B and Saumyaa in 3/4C for sending through their recycling boxes. Look how many items they have collected! A raffle ticket has been nominated to both of these students for our SMPS Raffle as recognition of their initiative to this mission statement.

MISSION 2 is all around litter.

Your instructions for this next mission are:

  • Create a poster to encourage people to stop littering
  • Optional: How much packaged food or items do you have in your home? How can you avoid how much landfill you create in your home?

Send a picture of your poster to your classroom teacher by 26th August 4pm to have a chance of winning a prize!

IMPORTANT: Each mission will play a key part of our next art competition. Stay tuned for more information :)

Sustainability Hero of the week:

The lovely Shanaya in 2C has been thinking about how harmful chemicals pollute our Earth. She has created her own perfume that uses natural ingredients and is eco friendly. If you are inspired by this, Shanaya has left instructions for you to make your own at home. Thanks for sharing Shanaya!

Shanaya's Perfume:

  1. First you get a spray can then you put water.
  2. Next you  grate  a  lemon and put  it in the spray can.
  3. Next you  put  mint  and flower petals in the spray can then add five tablespoons of powder.
  4. Finally close the spray cans lid .
