VCE Dance
Group Performance
The VCE Dance class have been working hard on their Group Performance recently. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the students were not able to perform either their Skills Solo or their Group Performance on stage to an audience.
As an alternative, the students recently presented their solo to a panel in a mock examination setting and this week they had the opportunity to complete their Group Performance as a film shoot at “The Vault” instead of a live performance. Stay tuned for the finished product coming soon! For this group task, students were required to learn choreography, which communicates intention, rehearse, refine and perform using production elements, such as costumes.
Thank you to “The Teller Collective”, Kerry Cameron and Darryl McConnell for their assistance and support with this venture.
Congratulations to the following students for a wonderful effort in achieving such a high quality performance, especially in such challenging circumstances with remote learning and restrictions!

The isolation period for VCE Dance was most certainly a challenge. However, we all did an astonishing job not just as individuals, but as a whole! The majority of the isolation period consisted of theory and individual solo work, which we knocked out of the park. When it came to the group dance however, we had to make sure that we kept rehearsing and refining while in the small spaces within our own homes during the isolation period!
We began the group dance before we went into lockdown, and now after lockdown, we have finished and polished it ready for filming!
Although it is sad that we don’t get a showcase to perform it for now, I hope people can still experience the same vibe when watching the film. The intention of the piece is quite strong and evident, so I hope we can all touch people’s hearts, even though it’s through a screen.
Coming back after the isolation period and picking up from where we left off with the group dance, especially, was challenging, as our spatial awareness was a bit out of whack. This issue was quickly solved, and we adapted quite easily! As a class, we all feel as if this piece has touched us in one way or another and even though we don’t get to express this on a stage, we still get to wear beautiful costumes, makeup and style our hair just like we usually would.
Special thanks to Mrs Cameron for her contributions and also Mr McConnell for filming. From all of the class, we would like to give a huge thank you to our teacher Mrs McGregor who has been our rock through all of this and has choreographed such a stunning piece of work!
