Current Year 10 Course Selection for 2021
Year 10 Parent info session
GSSC will be holding a Parent information evening online (due to current restrictions) this Tuesday (28th July) at 7pm. It will be a video accessible via a YouTube link. While it will be pre-recorded to address technical concerns, parents will be able to ask questions and get answers from their campus Careers team through ‘Teams Chat’ OR via email (details provided on the night). Details of the link will be provided via the College Careers Facebook page and Compass messages to parents and their students on Tuesday. Those unable to access this at that time will be able to access the recording afterwards.
Year 10 counselling & information sessions
On Tuesday (28th July) in per 3, all Year 10’s will have an information session via video (due to COVID restrictions). The session will address…
- differences between VCE and VCAL
- The things students should consider when choosing their course
- VET and SBAT’s and how they work
- VET course option
Then from the following day, course counselling will commence during their Industry & Enterprise classes. Students will be supported in these by I & E teachers as well as the GSSC Careers team, campus Assistant Principals, Simone Masters and the G4C team. Students will receive the required materials in Industry & Enterprise, including the senior course handbook and selection sheet.
Year 12 Parent info. about options for 2021 session
GSSC will be holding a Parent information evening online (due to current restrictions) next Wednesday evening (29th July) at 7pm to look at 2021 options for your child. It will address the various employment options as well as training and further education. VCAL and VCE Parents (and their students) are strongly encouraged to view this. It will be pre-recorded to address technical concerns but be freely available after this time to refer to. Details of the You Tube link will be provided via the College Careers Facebook page and Compass messages to Parents and students on Wednesday. Those unable to access this at that time will be able to access the recording afterwards.
More detailed VTAC advice will be provided via separate presentations in the coming weeks. Details will be provided when they come to hand.
In Learning Mentor on Tuesday afternoon, Year 12’s will collect a pack of materials that will be referred to in this presentation.
Yr 12 Student VTAC info. sessions
From week 4 this term, information sessions will be conducted online (through Learning Mentor sessions) for students interested in applying for tertiary study through VTAC. The Careers team and Neighbourhood Leaders will be supporting students through these. These sessions will cover

- Accommodation (for those who have to shift away to study)

Gap Year in the Defence Force
