CLONTARF Corner

SPORT

Clontarf morning trainings have been back into action.  We have had a mixture of training mornings from rugby league drills, fitness, AFL drills and a boxing session up at the local PCYC.  The young men have all had a great time around their Clontarf brothers.  A great way to start two mornings of their week.  Keep up the great work young men.  We have a top attender’s activity of surfing planned for week eight.

EDUCATION

We have seen a positive return of students this term even during these challenging times.  We are grateful for the support from the families helping transition the young fellas back to normal school and Clontarf activities.  Year 10 students have been busy listening to their options for next year, looking to make the correct subject choices for their future.  Year 10 & 11 students have just recently completed their white card through the school careers program.

WELLBEING

Annual Health checks have started in Term 3.  We have Shellcove Family health working with us, coming to school over the next few weeks to start a simple health check screening process with all Clontarf members.  The response from the young lads so far has been positive and have all found it “pretty easy talking with the friendly medical staff”.  The aim every year is to make sure all Clontarf members are taking care of their health and learn what it means to stay healthy physically and mentally.

EMPLOYMENT

Year 12 students have quickly become a huge focus for the school and Clontarf. We have held a breakfast morning for our year 12 members to come into the Clontarf room and enjoy a hot cooked breakfast. The conversation around the table was aimed at checking in with the young men to see how they were feeling leading into Term 3.  We discussed future plans and the steps that they each need to take now in order to make those plans come to life.  All six of these young men were able to identify where they want to be heading next year. For now the young men turn their attention to studying for trial exams coming up in the next few weeks.
