Principals Report

Over the past few weeks Echuca College has undertaken a school review. This type of review occurs every four years and is part of the process for setting a new strategic plan for the next four years with goals and targets set to improve student outcomes. The review process examines the performance of the school from the perspective of staff, students, parents and a range of data sets. The review panel included Paul Hon the Senior Education Improvement Leader, School Council President Larna Tarrant, Dale Pearce Principal of Bendigo Senior Secondary College and some representatives from the Department of Education Regional Office in Bendigo. During the fieldwork which includes classroom observations the panel noted the positive, calm and orderly learning environment across the five learning communities. Students were interviewed in focus groups and confirmed that they valued and trusted teachers and they feel safe at school. Parents in their focus group spoke about the inclusive processes used when the new vision and values were being developed. The reviewer, a former secondary school principal spoke very highly of the college and the community and felt we had many data sets that showed reason to celebrate.
