Congratulations to our students who participated in the Inverell Eisteddfod over the last fortnight. Year 5 and Year 1 did a fantastic job with their dances, Kindergarten and 4D were very well-rehearsed with their verse speaking yesterday and Year 2 sang beautifully today. A big thank you to our classroom teachers for organising the students and the time they spent on practising.
Our year 3 students had a great day fossicking for sapphires as part of their Science unit. The students left at 10:30am in the morning and spent most of the day digging and sifting through rubble, looking for precious stones. A big thanks to Bill Dawson for showing the children the skills. Make sure you look on our Facebook page to see photos.
Parents are welcome to join us on Wednesday for Catholic Schools Week celebrations. At 10:45am there will be a short outdoor prayer and then families can listen to a story being read for National Simultaneous story time and visit your child’s classroom. This will be followed by a picnic morning tea on the front lawn at 11:30am.
At Holy Trinity we see communication to parents as an important aspect of school life so as everyone can work together. All parents have access to Compass and this is the major way for the school to send updates, notes, newsletters and information. Some of the classes from Kindergarten to Year 6 also use Class Dojo or have set up email accounts so as staff can make regular contact with families. We do ask though, that contact is only made Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm. If you have any urgent questions or concerns out of this time please contact the Primary Assistant Principal, Mrs Trish Dal Santo or Principal, Mrs Jilly Rainger.
As of June 1, all students from K-6 should be in full winter uniform. This includes ties. If you have any issues with this or your child is out of uniform for a particular reason, could you please send in a note to their classroom teacher or speak to Mrs Dal Santo.
A reminder that school finishes at 3:20pm. Please don’t wait near classrooms or in wet-areas as this can be distracting to the children. Please wait at the front of the school if you are collecting your child. Students are supervised at waiting tree and bus lines until 3:45pm. If you are running late to collect your child can you please contact the office. A number of the children are becoming confused as to whether they should be on the bus or are being collected at the ‘Waiting Tree/Kiss and Drop Zone’. It would be helpful if you could send a note with your child if this changes day-to-day so as they can check where the correct place is if they get confused.
Mr Boney will be running cultural groups with students in K-6 this term. He will work with the identified Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students to help them learn about their culture. These groups will happen each Wednesday and rotate students throughout the year. Each term will focus on a different topic. The topic for Term 2 will be ‘Aboriginal art, the meaning & significance behind Welcome/ Acknowledgement to Country and the relationship between the Catholic Church and First Nations people’.
