Year 5/6 Cybersafety Incursion
On Tuesday 3rd May, we had a cybersafety presentation. Two Police Officers from Victoria Police came to school and spoke to all the Year 5/6 students about how we can be safe online.
Some of the key points they made included:
- Be aware of what you share
- Keep accounts with personal information private
- Think before you act
- If you feel uncomfortable ask for help from an adult
- Don't show information about where you are
- Never meet someone in person you met online
- Accepting things from other people online can be risky
- Block and report users who make you feel uncomfortable or unsafe
- Stick to your age ratings
- Police are here to help you even online
- Don't fall for someone's lies
- You have to beware of what you share , things like your location, name , or age could be leaked to other people
- Keep your social media account on private
- Use a secure and smart password
- Before you send a comment or message, think…
Why are you sending it?
Who are you sending it to?
Will this message hurt the person? - Do not post a picture with you wearing an identifiable uniform (eg.School, sporting club etc.)
- If someone is bullying/harassing you online, take a screenshot to show to your parents or the police
- Nothing is so bad to the point where you can’t tell anyone
- Kids HelpLine is available 24/7 to support you
