Principal Post

Dear Families,

To all our Mothers and special Women in our lives, I hope that you thoroughly enjoyed your special day on Sunday!

On Monday our Mothers Day Morning Tea and activities were a wonderful success. It was fantastic that we could have parents back on site for a truly wonderful event.

Our students are always happy to have their parents being a part of school life and are so proud to be able to perform and show their best.

My thanks to everyone at our school for their preparation and organisation of the morning.  We have had a number of staff away but everyone steps up and pitches in to ensure the best for our Community.

Alongside some staff, we also note that we have a number of our students away, some with gastro and flu like bugs. Please continue to monitor your children and to test for COVID. We hope everyone can stay fit and healthy as we move into some colder weather.

For the remainder of the week,  I will be at Flinders at the Principal Network Conference.

Mary Wilson from NZ is an experienced educator and  renowned speaker will facilitate the conference. The work will be around effective ways of building positive culture. At SJV we are blessed to have a positive workplace culture  and an outstanding community; we have an excellent  school climate and culture but we always strive to find ways of improving.

FIRST COMMUNION - CHANGE OF DATE

As you are aware we welcomed Fr David Francis to our Parish this week.  His commitments are such that we need to change the First Communion Date. There will be one Communion Mass on Tuesday evening 16th AUGUST at 7pm. A preparation evening will be held on Tuesday 9th AUGUST in the church at 7pm. First Communion is celebrated in Year 4.

NAPLAN

Our Years 3 and 5 students began the NAPLAN testing yesterday. The testing will continue today Thursday & Friday. Next Monday will be a catch up day for students who may have been absent this week.

The testing will be in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy. The students have been preparing for the tests at school and I am sure all students will give their best efforts this week.

COVID  Updates

You have received an email and a hard copy of the up to date changes to COVID arrangements beginning Term 2. I have attached these again for your reference should you require.

We will continue to do our very best in relation to having Casual Relief Teachers take classes should a teacher be absent with illness/ COVID. It is difficult at times to find CRTs. This is true across the sector. We will always do our best.

KELLY SPORTS

Kelly Sports continues every THURSDAY after school. Meet on the assembly shelter next to the oval.  Please note the school is NOT in charge of your children whilst at Kelly Sports.
