Hand Hygiene

We have had a 'bug' going through the school this last week with many students absent from school. We are reminding the children at school about good hand hygiene (washing their hands regularly and hand sanitizing). All classrooms have large containers of hand sanitizer.

Could all parents please remind their children of the importance of regularly washing and sanitizing their hands.

NAPLAN 2022

NAPLAN 2022 has finished. This week was the allocated period of time for any children absent due to illness last week to sit their tests. All tests were completed and have been submitted.

All the children are to be congratulated on their resilience and determined efforts with their NAPLAN assessments.

Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week is 27 May to 3 June. The National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change.” is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

This year we are asked to make change beginning with brave actions in our daily lives – where we live, work, play and socialise. One of the actions we take here at St Bede's is our student action group 'Fire Carriers'. Fire stands for 'Friends Igniting Reconciliation through Education'. Amongst other actions our Fire Carrier leaders start each assembly and school mass with an acknowledgement of the Traditional Owners of the land our school stands on. The leaders are currently working on whole school events for NAIDOC Week in the first week of Term Three. We look forward to our continued work towards reconciliation.

Staff Carpark

A reminder to parents not to use the staff carparks for drop off or pick up. There are many children walking through these areas at these times and it is very dangerous when cars are driving in and out.

Have a great weekend.
