FRENCH

Bonjour à tous! (Hello everybody!)

I hope you've had 'des bonnes vacances' (a good holiday season).

This term (except for the Preps) the French lessons will focus on revising vocabulary topics and grammar concepts learned last year.

In each grade this year, the students are coming from 2 or 3 different grades from last year. This means that their French knowledge is varied. Therefore, it is very important that we spend some time in class to ensure that all students reach a similar level before we can learn new concepts.

To do so, I have created a giant board game called 'Le jeu de l'oie' (The game of goose), which is very popular in France. In class, the students will always play in small teams made up of 4-5 students who come from different grades last year. This way they will help each other to answer the questions. Depending on the Grade, the topics of the questions will vary (numbers, colours, shops, greetings, moods, sports, time,...).

At the end of each lesson, the students will record in their notebooks all the words revised/learned that day while answering the questions.

Grades 2/3, 3/4 and 5/6s will regularly get some French homework (= memorising the words recorded in their notebooks) and will be assessed for 5 minutes at the start of the following French class. The scores they get each time will be used to comment about their effort in class, when it is time to write their reports.

Passez une bonne semaine! (Have a nice week!). A bientôt (talk to you soon),

Delphine
