Principal's Report

“A better world shall emerge based on faith and understanding.”

General Douglas Macarthur

Whoever thought that a famous WWII general might be so profound as to highlight the importance of faith in our lives?  In the new millennium, life seems even more complex and perhaps now more than ever do we need to pause and reflect on our values and the direction of our lives.  Yesterday’s Service of Holy Communion was incredibly special and I thank Rev Geoff Barker from the Uniting Church (Warrnambool and Hopkins Region) for leading us in worship.  His message surrounding the importance of ‘mindfulness, self-awareness and courage’ in our daily lives was powerful and provoked our community to wake with prayer and reflection.

Next week a podcast of the presentation by staff for Year 10 and 11 Information Nights will be made available in our last weekly Newsletter for the term. If you could not attend, I urge you to listen to the wise advice shared by staff last night.

Please note, we are glad to advise that the Science Centre reopened on Tuesday afternoon following the successful removal of the asbestos material.  During the removal process air monitoring was conducted and the results showed that the amount of Airborne Asbestos Dust detected was 0/100.

A reminder that our Hamilton Information Night will be held in the Kantor MPAC next Tuesday June 14th 2016. The evening is designed to be very casual with an emphasis on meeting each other as well as a number of staff from the College.  Drinks and canapes will commence at 6pm and a brief presentation will follow with the night concluding at 7.30pm.  We do hope that you will be able to join us and bring some interested families with you.

I hope every family enjoys the long weekend.

Dr Andrew Hirst
