International Student Forum

On Tuesday, May 16th the International Student Forum was held at the State Library of Victoria with state schools across Melbourne in attendance. The annual event hosted by the Department of Education and Training was dedicated to encouraging and improving outcomes for international students at high school.

Wantirna College International Student Captain Yewudai Zhu, Vice Captain Shengyu Huang and a local Student Tongxin Zhai accompanied by The Leader of International Students, Mr Ray Wang attended the forum  as representatives of Wantirna College.  Students from a wide variety of schools participated in the event and  discussed difficulties that international students are facing as well as brainstorming strategies that they believe should be implemented to improve the learning experience, both for international and local students. In addition, all International Student Coordinators from the schools were able to share best practices to promote international student programs in the Education State of Victoria.

At the end of the event, all students reflected on their day and planned to bring suggestions to a special meeting of Principals. Overall the students from Wantirna College made valuable contributions and appreciated the opportunity to engage with other International and local students.
